    Government agencies require  that all starting businesses, (including small business, internet business, online business, online web sites and home business, at least get a business license and file a dba and in most cases obtain a tax id number.

    In Connecticut, If you use a name other than your own personal name to operate a business, you are legally required  to file  a DBA Certificate , also known as a dba (doing business as) form.

    How long does the process take to get a tax id Number I want to open a checking account.

    State Tax Id Number (Employer Number) varies but average time is  1-8 DAYS - could take longer in some states. In some states, we file on the same day we receive your order; however, note that it may take a few days for the government to mail you the certificate.

    An Employer Identification Number (EIN) is also known as a Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN). A sole proprietorship that has no employees and files no excise or pension tax returns is the only business that does not need an employer identification number. In this instance, the sole proprietor uses his or her social security number as the taxpayer identification number.
